PALMER Coolum Resort will relaunch its signature restaurant this Thursday evening as the Captain’s Table sets sail for the first time.
Formerly known as Eliza’s, the award-winning restaurant has an established reputation for excellence in food, wine and ambience that is sure to be further enhanced under the continued guidance of Chef de Cuisine, Gareth Collins.
The tranquil outlook and classic high ceilings with exposed rafters and floor to ceiling French windows create the sophisticated atmosphere that has long been the restaurant’s trademark.
Palmer Coolum Resort’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Mr Buddy Byrd, said the new name better captures both the restaurant’s high culinary standards and its dedication to excellence.
“Of course there’s the nautical reference that fits nicely with our upcoming ‘Titanic Culinary Journey’, which is a celebration of the food and wine on the famous vessel, but the renaming of the restaurant goes far deeper than that,” Mr Byrd said.

“Traditionally, the captain’s table is where a guest will dine upon the finest food, drink the best wines and enjoy great company in exceptional surroundings. That is what our Captain’s Table restaurant is all about and the new name is a perfect fit on every level.
“The Sunshine Coast is an epicurean hotspot with some of the best possible produce available for some great chefs to work with. The Captain’s Table will be a celebration of that produce and it will do what it has always done, which is to prepare and serve outstanding cuisine to the highest standards.
“The renaming ceremony will take place at a private function this Thursday (26 July) with some local identities and members of the community. This is the second restaurant that has been renamed at Palmer Coolum Resort and there will be more to come as we press on with our improvements.
“We are reintroducing our restaurants, our great chefs and our culinary offerings with the fresh new energy that is very evident at the resort wherever you go,” he said.
