LISTING DETAILS

Coolum HeARTs is a not for profit organisation providing free access to the arts for people who live with mental illness, depression and anxiety, physical and intellectual disability, domestic violence, the effects of alcohol and drug abuse and social isolation.

Art, drumming and singing classes are available weekly. Participants are self-referred, or referred by counsellors, psychologists or agencies in the community, or by family members and friends. No experience is needed for any of the classes.

There is no pressure to perform with the choir, just a willingness to enjoy and sing from your heart in a safe, supportive and friendly environment. Drums and training are supplied, including a great deal of laughter and fun.

A Community Lunch is being held for people who are on their own on Christmas Day or who cannot provide a lunch for their families.  Are you able to help?

Coolum HeARTs is looking for volunteers to help plan the lunch and to share the day with members of our community who attend.

If you can contribute financially towards the day, or help on the day, or before the day with planning,  please contact Barb on 0478646330.  We usually have two shifts, both sharing lunch.

The first is from 9am until after lunch, and the second from lunch until the clean-up is completed.

Last year the Real Estate agents of Coolum contributed towards the expenses of the lunch - including the rental of the Civic Centre.  This is completely voluntary and we depend on the community for both financial and physical support.

Thank you to all the Real Estate Agents who were so generous last year – we were able to cater for 85 people and it was a tremendous celebration with Santa dropping in also.

The Christmas Spirit has been well and truly alive over the past three years, so let's make 2018 Christmas Day one to remember for people who are less fortunate than many of us.
