Arnette Australian Junior Surfing Titles

              Sunshine Coast, QLD – November 28-December 5, 2009

The pinnacle event of junior surfing in Australia, the Arnette Australian Junior Surf Titles, will be held on the Sunshine Coast from Saturday November 28-Saturday December 5, 2009.

Surfers from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania must qualify through their respective states to compete in the Australian Titles.

This event will showcase the “best of the best” Australian junior surfers, and having the support of such a strong international brand, like Arnette is a massive bonus for the sport’s development. Arnette’s support of young surfers by providing events of this caliber is crucial to keeping Australian surfing at the peak of world performance.

Each year, almost 350 teenagers across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania enter their state titles in the U16 and U18 divisions with contestants vying for all-important state title crowns and a spot in their respective state teams to contest the Australian Junior Surfing titles.

A win at state or national level is regarded as a major step in a surfer’s competitive career, with and impressive list of past winners such as Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Mark Richards, Stephanie Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons and Chelsea Hedges.

The event this year will be held at the beautiful Coolum Beach, located just 75 minutes from the Brisbane City Centre and 10 minutes from the Sunshine Coast Airport. The Sunshine Coast has more than 100km of beaches stretching through the coastal towns of Caloundra, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum Beach, Noosa and Rainbow Beach. It is holiday central for both couples and families.
